Thames high school has secured the Thames Valley High School Series Title for the second year running. After a strong showing at Te Aroha Golf Club in round 4, Thames High School continued their winning ways as they showed the field a clean pair of heels after winning the final round at the Hauraki Golf Club.
Thames High #1 Team posted a nett score of 30 for their 9 hole event, which was 2 better than Matamata Boys. Grabbing the 50 OOM points and winning the series by 40 points. Matamata College were in second place with an OOM Total tally of 180 points, followed by a consistent Paeroa College on 170 points.
In Division One (Individual Section) it was a 2 way battle between series leader Robson Tarrant (Matamata college) and Keegan Walsh (Hauraki Plains). It was a show down between these two players to see who would come out victorious for 2016. Keegan Walsh was looking to claw back the 10 points he needed and on his home track looked a good chance to do so. On the day, Korbyn Green (Hauraki Plains) played well, holing out on the 11th hole for eagle, on his way to a nett 71, and the win for the day. Keegan Walsh and Liam Tansey (Hauraki Plains) both had nett 78 with Robson Tarrant the leader going into the final round posting nett 83.
Final results would see Keegan Walsh take the overall series title by 10 points over Robson Tarrant (Matamata College). Korbyn Green in 3rd and Liam Tansey 4th.
Another great year for the Thames Valley Players. We look forward to 2017 and another strong showing by the Thames Valley Schools. All welcome.
Big thanks to Matamata, Te Aroha, Paeroa, Hauraki and Thames Golf Clubs for the use of your great facilities.
