The 2018 Northern Junior Girls Development Quadrangular was held at the Riverside Golf Club – Lochiel Course on the 17th/18th/19th of April. The Waikato team to contest this tournament met at Hamilton Golf Club with anticipation in the air. The new players were showing nervous excitement with an element of expectation from the older players.
On assembly at Hamilton Golf Club the Girls participated in a fun team building activity on the putting green enabling them to get to know one another before departing for the accommodation at Waikato Diocesan. This was a great and fun way to introduce and include our two newest players Bianca Stephens and Lauola (Ola) Palamo. The Waikato Team then traveled to Riverside Golf Club for a practice Round. The girls were already showing great unity with lots of support and encouragement for the new players.
All the teams assembled at the Waikato Diocesan School for the official welcome dinner. Waikato Golf CEO Terry Booth joined the teams at Waikato Diocesan to officially welcome teams/managers to the mighty Waikato.

The Waikato Team to play in this tournament was filled with a number of familiar faces with some fresh new players brought into the frame. Overall the scores do not reflect the effort and the development made by this fantastic group of girls. The team all fought hard and stayed on task until the bitter end in each of their matches. They gelled as a team and were supportive and courteous during the tournament. The new members were warmly welcomed into the team and learnt a lot over the 3 days.
The Riverside Golf Club – Lochiel Course was a fantastic venue. The greens as usual were in mint condition and the green staff had done a fantastic job preparing the rest of the course. The Waikato Diocesan School for Girls provided the accommodation and food for the teams and feedback was extremely positive and complimentary.
As always the support for our Waikato Team was especially fervent. Special thanks must go to Eileen and Liz who supported our new team members during their rounds with help scoring, rules and golf etiquette. Once again Janice has done a superb job managing the team. Congratulations to all involved in a great few days at the 2018 Northern Junior Girls Development Quadrangular.
