6 times winning Prebble Cup club Paeroa hosted the 2013 Prebble Cup and Tolich Trophy Final on Sunday 12th May, the host club turned on some great weather and presented the finalist with a course worthy of a final.
PREBBLE CUP
Horsham Downs who last won the cup in 1990 & Matamata 1972 were this years finalist anfter the morning foursome it was apparent we were in for a great match with scores even at 2 matches all, the singles was just as even with 1 match to play scores were locked at 3.5 each, the last match went to the 18th and another half saw match tied at 6 games all. On a count back of margins Horsham Downs were declared 2013 Champions with a margin of 15 to 12.
TOLICH TROPHY
Taumarunui last won the trophy in 2004 and Ngaruawahia who were looking to make history for their club were this years finalists, Ngaruawahia took an early 3/1 lead in the foursomes and continued this form in the singles to run out winners 8/4.
At presentations all captains thank all players whoi had layed throughout the year for the way in which they had played the game and said without a doubt the Prebble Cup/Tolich Trophy remains one of the best competitions in our interclub programme.

PREBBLE CUP RULES
Competition to be decided on matchplay on a knock out basis.
2: Dates for each round to be set by the Association at the end of the previous season.
3: Where practical venues will be arranged prior to the start of the competition.
4: Venues will have a minimum of 4 teams participating on each day where practical.
5: 1st round losers will compete in the Tolich Trophy competition to be run in conjunction with the main competition on the same knock out basis.
6: Teams to consist of eight players - four on Handicap Index 5.0 to 14.4 four on Handicap Index 14.5 to 24.0. Foursomes match play allow the high handicapped side 50 percent of the difference between the combined course handicaps of the members of each side, e.g. total course handicaps Team A 21, Team B 16 difference between the combined coursehandicaps of the members of each side, e.g. total coursehandicaps Team A 21, Team B 16 difference 5 ? 50 percent is 2 ½ - handicap strokes 3 (Refer Section 10/2 Match Play E Handicapping and Course Rating Booklet).
7: Playing order: Juniors ? Handicap Indexs 14.5 to 24.0inclusive first, followed by seniors ? Handicap Indexs 5.0 to 14.4inclusive.
8: In all rounds, other than the final, the decision, in the event of matches being equal, to be decided by the margin of holes or subsequently by sudden death combined stableford play commencing at the first hole, the players to participate being one Senior and one Junior from each team tying, selected by respective captains. In the final round, should the matches and the margin of games be equal, the match to be replayed not necessarily on the same course.
9: Foursome matches in the morning, singles in the afternoon.
10: One team per Club.
11: Results to be advised to the Association.
12: General Rules controlling the competition to be decided by the Waikato Golf Association (inc.).
13: Team lists in playing order to be submitted as requested by the Waikato Golf Association.
14: Course Handicaps will be used on the day of competition.
PREEBLE CUP HISTORY
The Prebble Cup is a handicap match play event which had its beginnings in the Waiterimu district. The Waikato Golf Association has conducted the event since 1955.

TOLICH TROPHY HISTORY
This competition originated in 1992 for those teams who lost their second round of play in the Prebble Cup Competiton. The competition was named after Mr and Mrs Joe Tolich. Joe had played in the Prebble Cup Competition for many years and wanted to acknowledge the enjoyment he had received from it.
