Waikato Remain UnbeatenDate: 07-18-2010 Waikato women remained unbeaten in the annual 36 hole fixture against BOP last Sunday 18th July at the Matamata Golf course. For the seniors this is a very long standing event which originally started back in 1956. The rep fixture consisted of 16 senior players, 8 juniors and 6 Masters playing foursomes in the morning and singles in the afternoon. After the morning round the Seniors were all square on 8 points each. Waikato juniors were leading 6 points to BOP 2 and in the Masters BOP lead 5 points to 1. The afternoon singles saw the Masters do a complete turn around coming in clear winners 8 points to BOP 4 resulting in a draw on 9 points each. Similarly BOP turned the table for the juniors winning 10 points to Waikato 6 points resulting in another draw on 12 points each. Meantime the senior women’s competition remained very close until the last six pairings when Waikato won five of these matches, resulting in a win overall to Waikato 26 points to BOP 22 points

Kiwis miss out on Open SpotDate: 06-24-2010 There will be no New Zealanders in The Open field at St Andrews after Michael Campbell and James Gill failed to fire in local qualifying in Scotland overnight.
Campbell shot 72 and 77 for a five over total at Kingsbarns Links to finish in a tie for 36th while Gill was six over with rounds of 72 and 76 at Ladybank.
The top three from each of the four Scottish venues used for qualifying grabbed the final 12 available spaces in the 150th championship starting next week.
It's disappointing for Gill, 24, who calls St Andrews home during the southern hemisphere winter while he plays on the developmental EuroPro Tour.http://www.opengolf.com/en.aspx |

Photo Opportunity for Waikato PlayersDate: 05-31-2010 As some of you may have heard we ran into Jack Nicklaus in St Andrews before we came across to Glasgow on thursday. He was doing a clinic for the Royal Bank of Scotland ahead of the Open here next month. James Gill and I managed to catch him on his way out of the Clubhouse after an interview and got our photo's taken with him. He was an incredibly patient guy and signed a couple of things for us both.
