 Stars at Queen Sirikit Cup

The New Zealand team of Cecilia Cho, Zoe Brake and Lydia Ko are in good form for the Queen Sirikit Cup next week. Cecilia Cho recently returned with the Australian Amateur Strokeplay title, and was also Runner Up in the matchplay, while Lydia Ko provided a great finish of 7th = in the recent NZ Women’s Open and was the best Amateur in the field. With Zoe Brake also performing well in Australia, they all competed in the Trans Tasman Cup in Wellington on 29 & 30th March.

Both Cecilia and Lydia were part of the Junior Women’s team who beat their Australian counterparts for the Junior Tasman Cup for the first time in it’s history.
All three are very excited about the prospect of playing against the 12 other countries from the Asia/Australasia region at Hamilton Golf Club on 7th, 8th & 9th April.

It is also a chance to watch the Australian Matchplay Champion Stacey Keating, from Australia, who together with her team mates Ebony Heard and Justine Lee, will be hoping to continue their good form from the Trans Tasman Cup.
They were part of the Senior Women’s team who defeated the New Zealand team to take the Tasman Cup back to Australia after New Zealand had held it in 2009.

Tee off is from 8 am each day.

A great chance to watch the stars of the future on our own back door step.

New Zealand has won the teams title three times, in 1984, (the first year they entered), 1990 and 1999.  As well a kiwi has been the top individual four times namely Brenda Ormsby in 1984, Jan Higgins in 1990, Marnie McGuire in 1991 and Lynette brooky in 1993.  (SEE PHOTOS BELOW)
